Tell Me How Ukraine Ends
- verdverm 5y agoThis article makes some assumptions I don't see holding up. > Putin seeks something much simpler: a buffer territory between him and NATO. Putin wants, to borrow a term, to Make Russia Great Again... which the path he is taking is having the opposite effect. I think I'm this aspect he has already lost. It is quite unlikely for Russia to split Ukraine in two, as the article suggests, or be able to maintain any long-term control of Ukraine. More likely he wants to install as much federalism (state power) and remove central govt power. That way he can chip away at Ukraine. I think this is down to a test of endurance between Russia and the West, each sides willingness to pay attention to the war and maintain their posture. Hard power vs soft power. Certainly Ukraine will out endure both
- readonthegoapp 5y agoi can think of a lot of Ukraine that has not, in fact, endured both.
- readonthegoapp 5y agothis seems to be engaged with reality, which makes it better than 99.9% of the stuff out there.
