Multiple holidays ruined by being on-call (New Years' Eve more than once due to year-end bugs, sitting in another room on a laptop and phone while everyone has Thanksgiving), countless weekends, disturbed sleep patterns. "Daring" to try to enjoy your weekend like this person said. I for one am tired of it.
- Psychlist 5y agoWTF, you're on call when on holiday? That seems awful. I'd say "do teams really do that" but obviously they do. That's just terrible management IMO, and a real incentive to take up hiking or anything out of cellphone coverage.
- sio8ohPi 5y agoI always love taking holiday oncall. Code freezes mean they're usually quiet, and we get paid for the full 12h (about 3x the oncall pay we would get on a normal weekday).
