A Microsoft employee quit. Then the company completely broke the rules
- gandalfian 5y agoWhen microsoft employee quit for competitor Microsoft were still kind enough to extend his employment by an extra week so he wouldn't have visa troubles during traveling to a family emergency in the interim. Thought it was going to be negative but actually positive Microsoft story
- uo21tp5hoyg 5y agoI think the title purposefully leads you into thinking it's going to be negative, or maybe I am too used to negative titles, who knows?

- cglong 5y agoI was under this impression too. Perhaps the title should be editorialized. From the guidelines: > please use the original title, unless it is misleading or linkbait
- op00to 5y agoHighly effective- I too was sharpening my pitchfork in preparation for the big reveal. Glad it was a happy story!
- specialist 5y agoMy SO works in sales/marketing. She has a very frank convo with recruits and new hires. First acknowledges that jobs last 3-5 years. Next, asks them to consider what they want to get from this gig, in the time that they have. Goals, skills, experience, pivots, whatever. Then works with them to make it happen. She's still in contact with former coworkers decades later. Has multiple repeat hires as everyone bounces around from job to job. My SO's strategy is smart, practical, and humane. I've never had an employer or boss like my SO. Like this OC notes, most gigs treat you like compost once you move on. (FWIW, the times I've been the boss, I've done what I can to be like my SO.)
