Why are people still being beheaded as a form of capital punishment in 2022? Aren’t there other forms with more dignity?

- Symbiote 5y agoWhy are people still being killed as a punishment?
- TedDoesntTalk 5y agoA good question that seems to have its roots in the distant past, just like beheading.
- gambiting 5y agoTbf beheading sounds far more preferable to some methods used elsewhere(like lethal injection). Not that I support either.
- TedDoesntTalk 5y agoAre you aware that a person is alive for up to 15 seconds after beheading? There was a Stuff You Should Know podcast episode about that.
- gambiting 5y agoI'd absolutely take that 15 seconds of fading conciousness over minutes of dying from chemicals(or like in case of some botched executions - hours of executioners trying to find a right vein). It's really hard to botch up a beheading.
- drewcoo 5y agoI know it's macabre, but there is a certain literal sense in that.
- int_19h 5y agoWe're talking about a country that criminalizes sorcery and witchcraft - the punishment is death, as it happens, and they do enforce those laws (last such execution was in 2012, IIRC).
