That company that hires 10 engineers to create a bespoke orchestration system will inevitably end up re-inventing a buggy, poorly specified implementation of Kubernetes.
Kubernetes gives a standardized set of abstractions and concepts that means hiring and development is easier, not harder.
- sublimefire 5y agoNot really, they will just end up using managed services in AWS. Kubernetes exists (in the eyes of the corp) only as a tool that avoids vendor lock-in.
- cjalmeida 5y agoCloud “value added services” ie, all but elastic VM, networking and storage, are typically very poor compared to whatever you can find in k8s just one helm install away.
