I would like to see a real assessment of the concept of identity in the UK.
Too many organisations rely on basic (and easily faked) paper-based documents to obtain "proof" of identity.
Cases like the one where someone's house was "stolen" (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-59069662 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-59069662) demonstrate that too much trust is placed in pieces of paper - even those issued by government agencies.
When I moved home a few years ago, I was able to prove to the estate agent and solicitors that I owned the property and could sell it to get £250,000+ in my bank account, but I didn't have enough paper bills to prove to Royal Mail that I lived at the property to redirect my post.
Having the government involved in this process is a necessary evil.
