To my understanding - If the pixels are smaller, the gaps between pixels are likely to make up a larger proportion of the sensor, so you do lose some light from this process, although there are definitely upsides to extra pixels if there is more detail to be resolved
- DeathArrow 5y agoThat's true but I think it's almost negligible. If we look at Dxomark's SNR charts for sensors fabbed using the same technology, which have the same size but different resolution, we can see that SNR and DR is about the same. That is also true if we look at www.photonstophotos.net data.
