Fall Back? Spring Ahead? How About Neither, Experts Say
- moltke 5y agoI kept all of my clocks on daylight time this winter. I never had the jolt in the fall and won't have it in the spring, even when I'm sick or hungover I sleep in and still get up in time for work.
- m348e912 5y agoWhen most people opine about doing away with time changes, I suspect most of them simply assume the default approach would be to remain in daylight saving time. In reality it would be more likely we go back to how it was before Ben Franklin or whoever it was who came up with the idea of daylight saving - standard time all year round. You would no longer get to enjoy those long summer evenings with sunlight present past 8pm. (Depending where you live of course)
- moltke 5y agoWhy exactly wouldn't it remain in daylight time?
- jleyank 5y agoOne could make an argument that having time such that the sun is at/near its maximum at noon would be physically reasonable. (Very) northern latitudes don’t need the extra daylight, and winter mornings where the sun rises after one starts a normal day would suck. Particularly if kiddies have to be outside in the dark before or going to school.
