There seems to be no way to hammer this in to the heads of the do-gooders out in the world trying to crush fuel for the sake of an electro-fleet. The infrastructure is wildly underrated to support anything approaching adoption.
This is reality, not an opinion. Rolling blackouts occur from AC use. Imagine 10 million fast charging cars plugged in at 6pm, California.
I don't have a problem with the conceptual benefit, but politicians need to sit down and shut up. We can't put the cart before the horse, or motor before the engine, and force electric vehicles on the populace without preparing first.
- zthrowaway 5y ago100%. Unfortunately politicians are there to sell an idea for votes and that’s not going to stop. Add climate alarmism on top of that and we’re definitely not helping anything. End of the day, fossil fuels are still going to charge your electric car for the most part until we embrace sensible energy alternatives like nuclear. Thousands of miles of windmills will not help us and I argue more visually unappealing versus two nuclear towers every few hundred miles.
- marssaxman 5y agoReality is that we have to "crush fuel" or we're all going to die. Yes, there are hard problems. So what? We have to solve them. That's all there is. Climate change is here. It's now. We have no more time for dicking around.
- upsidesinclude 5y agoIt's as if you ignored my statement to deliver the most trite boiler plate reply you could muster. The world is not going to crush their economic lifeline, regardless of what the US and 1st world wants in its garage. We are the cleanest, most conscientious producers and consumers of fuel for energy. Though certainly not as consumers of petrochemicals, side note. So you would crush the poor and middle class of the first world in order to effect an arbitrary advancement that cannot be supported by our current Energy infrastructure & push coal and fossil fuel consumption & production to the least discerning countries Truly, I suggest you seek out new opinions regarding the viability of some of these new green ideas championed by politicians and corporate hacks
