Facebook’s Parent Company Will Make Employees Do Their Own Laundry
- jleyank 5y agoClever. Force people back to the office and remove their perks…. Stealth layoff or just management being a hard ass?
- pipeline_peak 5y agoMeta officials deny that its due to the companies decline. Even the author steers away from it “ The moves are a reflection of changing workplace culture in Silicon Valley”. I have no doubt they’re cutting back for financial reasons.
- jleyank 5y agoPerhaps. Maybe the SV firms have realized that prattling on about rockstars just leads to elevated wage expectations. They’re not needed for most of the work, as wage slaves do just fine. I looked at the SF area y2k and the commute really sucked. I doubt it’s better 20 years on.
- pipeline_peak 5y agoCan’t say Facebook was ever an exciting company. But man, they are approaching Balmer Microsoft era levels of staleness. At least they have fresh ideas like PlayStation Home.
- yellowapple 5y ago> Meta has had a difficult past few months, though company officials say the changes to perks are not related. Nonsense; such changes almost always end up being a canary in the coal mine.
