The boots can crack and let in dirt and salt spray. To avoid premature replacement, watch for that and replace the boot with an aftermarket “split” boot, which can be done without removing the c/v. I think most shops will just replace the joint when they see a torn boot, however.
- giantg2 5y agoYeah, true. I guess when I hear service I mostly think of stuff that gets regular attention ever x thousand miles - grease the joints, fluid changes, pads/rotors, etc.
