Unless there's something different about the mix (as you note), it's unlikely that most people in most circumstances could hear a meaningful difference. If someone has high end equipment & speakers and the speakers are placed correctly in an ideal room or if you've got high end headphones, then maybe, but otherwise I'm skeptical.
