For me at least the reason is: - with a subscription model (e.g., Spotify) I enjoy the music as long as a) I keep paying, and b) the supplier keeps supplying it - with a "buy a CD" model, I own the music forever. I can copy it in another CD to preserve it if needed. I don't have to worry about Spotify or Apple Music being up/down or if they even increase their base price or not
