Russia says its businesses can steal patents from anyone in unfriendly countries
- voakbasda 5y agoRussia is taking more and more steps away from the rest of the world. Steps that will have lasting consequences should they ever attempt to rejoin the rest of the world. Which leads me to conclude that they now expect to be sanctioned indefinitely, as they feel they have nothing to lose by taking these steps. What’s the worst that could happen when the bear gets backed into a corner?

- gizmo686 5y agoAlternatively, they recognize that the threat of sanctions leaves them vulnerable. Even if they expect this round to end reasonably soon, they may be looking to remove the ability to do this again in the future.
- troon-lover 5y agoThis comment doesn’t make sense. Only the US has real IP law enforcement over itself and its vassal countries in Europe. With this move Russia is joining the vast majority of the world in ignoring foreign IP restrictions (Africa, India, China, Arabia, etc).
- thot_experiment 5y agoObviously I don't believe that the costs to create this situation are worthwhile, that being said I think an explicit break like this could be a move that will help weaken western IP-law hegemony in the long run so that's kinda dope. Слава Україні!
