Hmm, it is just a feeling that the western media are just having (dark) kind of fun how far they can manipulate the population in the west, and at the same time incite hatred toward russian civilization as a whole. (Im lumping not only this but nowadays majority of all articles/narratives from CNN, BBC, etc on this conflict)
There is no off button once it has been started, and already top observers are voicing their concern (eg. J. Matlock, late US ambassador to USSR) . This is the first time since pre-war WW2 Germany that there is relentless propaganda and actions taken to humiliate and denigrate entire people based on their nationality and language (including here bans on sci., sports, etc). However, this time it is global, and wielding tools not dreamed off in Germany at that time. Mind you, pre-WW2 Germany was the highest educated and cultured population in Europe and still were cajoled into actions based on hatred of a caliber that scars the nation till today. This conflict will end at some point in diplomacy (as it should never should have started). However, the hatred will not (by either side) and that is just ugly prospects of a future for our children. Stop these gambles and social engineering games (media and commentators), urge for peace, diplomacy, balanced journalism without the primitively abhorrent, retarded, and infantile fallacy of "You are with us or against us".
"The war will end. The leaders will shake hands. The old lady will keep waiting for her martyred son. The girl will wait for her beloved husband. And those children will wait for their heroic father. I do not know who sold our homeland. But I saw who paid the price" [these are words of late Palestinian poet M. Darwish -- capturing the invariable result of any war]
- sidibe 5y agoOh come off it. The actions may be affecting Russians gravely but there is very little hate behind it from what I've seen. This is because of what's happening in Ukraine, maybe people in Russia in a bubble are misinterpreting that, but if you are on here you should be able to see there's not much hate.
- dang 5y agoWould you please edit swipes and personal attacks from your comments here? You've been doing it regularly, unfortunately. This is badly against the site guidelines because it poisons the community and undermines everything we're trying for here. Therefore we ban accounts that won't stop doing it. I don't want to ban you, so please stop doing it. Of course I understand that emotions are justifiably high given the situation. But that makes it more important to follow the rules, not less. It won't do anyone any good if this place burns down. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
