The gulf between wokeness and supporting disadvantaged groups couldn't be larger. You do get a whole new appreciation for Matthew 23, where Jesus, himself a Pharisee, tears into his fellow Pharisees who lost sight of the goal of the movement, which sought to promote a form of spirituality accessible for everyone but then lost sight of that goal. It starts with "do as they say, not as they do" and gets better with every sentence. The "land acknowledgements" so popular at woke places do remind of the "whitewashed monuments".
