Hitler didn't start out running concentration camps, there was a long lead up to that. The Knight of Long Knives, where 'opponents' of the Nazis were assassinated was in 1934. Kristallnacht happened in late 1938. There are a number of similarities between Hitler and Putin, and we may yet see the beginning of pogroms against Jews, but I would say that the bans on homosexuality are showing us where this ends up going. Putin also seems to be bent on returning to a former empire (see Third Reich comparisons).
