I Watched Russian TV So You Don’ Have To – On Russian TV Putin Is the Good Guy
- h2odragon 5y agoSo kind of them to do our thinking for us. Might risk straining something coming to our own conclusions otherwise. Even if I agree with the propaganda, the fact that it is propaganda is hard to discount. i still have a lingering dismay at the open glorification of it. our propaganda is fine but the other guy's propaganda is so evil...
- ZeroGravitas 5y agoSomeone on HN recently claimed that Russian political conversations on TV were much more sophisticated than in democratic countries, because in democratic countries you had to appeal to the man in the street. But I guess that's only true as long as you're saying what the dictator wants to hear, and if he wants to hear something idiotic and false, I guess that's what you talk about.
- jfengel 5y agoI caught a new musical last night, and one chorus seems rather apt: We want the truth And the truth is The truth we want is The truth we want to hear (Sung by a very biased and despotic set of judges.)
- eveningcoffee 5y agoThey are very sophisticated when you consider direct humiliation, profanities, insults and yelling you down are sophisticated.
- eveningcoffee 5y ago"In Russia’s version of the war, Russians are liberators, Ukrainians are Nazis, and the West is full of mendacious hypocrites. " No, no! This is not war, it is special military operation!. It is so special that Russian army has lost almost the same amount men in 10 days as they lost in Afghanistan in 10 years. It is a very special operation, it is the rebirth of Russian army (I am not joking, this is what they tell in TV).
