Slow-Motion Suicide in San Francisco
- iancmceachern 5y agoThere is a lot of research pointing to the opposite of what is claimed in this article. See what the Nederlands, other European cities have been doing.
- spoonjim 5y agoOther cities may be having other results but San Francisco is having terrible and inhumane results from its policies.
- pjlegato 5y agoThe article specifically addresses the differences between what the Netherlands does and what San Francisco does, and why San Francisco's outcomes are much worse.
- ZeroGravitas 5y agoI only just started reading but the subheading is: > The city is carrying out a bizarre medical experiment in which they are helping homeless drug addicts use drugs. ‘It’s handing a loaded gun to a suicidal person.’ Which doesn't seem to differentiate, if they do in the article, then that's a really bad subtitle.
- DiggyJohnson 5y agoI think you should continue reading the whole article before commenting, just a gentle suggestion.
- terminatornet 5y ago> Something very different is happening in San Francisco. The city is carrying out a bizarre medical experiment whereby addicts are given everything they need to maintain their addiction—cash, hot meals, shelter—in exchange for . . . almost nothing. Voters have found themselves in the strange position of paying for fentanyl, meth and crack use on public property. God forbid we give unhoused people food and shelter. No more Bari Weiss substack posts on here please, it's always some "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" type garbage
- ZeroGravitas 5y agoIt's mildly sickening how he's taking advantage of the families of people with drug dependencies to push his politics. I guess he's seen the end of his "renewables are a scam by communist luddites" grift he's been profiting from the the last couple of decades and looked for some new way to abuse people's trust. > On Saturday morning, mothers of homeless addicts and mothers of kids killed by drugs gathered to protest the supervised drug site in front of the Linkage Center. They call themselves Mothers Against Drug Deaths, and they are part of the California Peace Coalition, which I co-founded last May.
