How to get Americans out of cars and onto electric bikes and scooters
- vnchr 5y agoNot one mention of snow or inclement weather. If we’re going to talk about this as an “American” problem, then I’d hope the transportation challenges faced by most Americans would be acknowledged.
- eternityforest 5y agoMore public transit routes, and additionally a network of computer optimized special routes for popular events, plus HEPA filters and plastic dividers to get to a near-zero virus transmission level. Active noise cancellation, air conditioning all the time in summer. Make bussing better and maybe people will use it. I would probably cause a crash in days if I tried to ride any of them, but I doubt I'd give up a car if I could. Being able to drive seems so absolutely wonderful. Or bring back the segway in a form that can go on the bus and be locked at bike lockers. I'd probably want one of those ultralight chinese electrics or something, but I definitely wouldn't want to ride a terrifying extreme sports device and pretend it's normal transportation.
