I don't think Macrovision was universal though, based on my personal experience as a kid.
- bitwize 5y agoBack in the day, it wasn't. As of 1998 and the DMCA, it is a federal crime in the USA to sell a VCR without Macrovision.
- scarface74 5y agoThe commercial tapes for the most part had Macrovision. The VCRs had a built in “circumvention device”.
