The article is well worth a read in its entirety. I'm a millennial so it's all well before "my time" but wow. Honestly - and this may sound weird - the biggest thing that struck me about this was that there were so many established respectable companies actually doing innovative stuff with operating systems and graphical environments. It feels like the gap back then between deep technical work and customers was so much smaller. Must've been an amazing time to be in the industry.
