My friend invited me out to karaoke, but most of the songs I know aren't popular enough to be in karaoke systems. It turns out that the local karaoke place has a song database that serves queries formatted as a URL parameter, so I wrote a script to query it for every artist I've listened to on Last.FM. I found out that Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden are surprisingly good picks for karaoke! There were also a few singles I didn't expect from Children of Bodom and Arch Enemy. https://github.com/vermarish/karaoke-sign-in https://github.com/vermarish/karaoke-sign-in
- pianoraptor 5y agoVery cool. As a fan of metal with “extreme” vocals, I was blown away one night at a karaoke place when a guy went up and screamed the vocals to an Arch Enemy song! At the time, I was thinking “Only in Portland…”
- freeplay 5y agoCool project. Created a PR with some performance improvements if you're interested.
- vermarish 5y agoOh, wow! This is extremely cool, thank you for that. I've responded to your PR message.
- barbs 5y agoNice one! Although when I started reading your comment I was sort-of hoping you found a way to hack it and put your own songs in!
