- beardog 5y agoShallot (at least that version) is for v2 onions only which are truncated sha1 hashes of RSA keys. v3 onions are base32-encoded ed25519 so 7 characters translates to needing to force 35 bits of ed25519, which according to [2] should be in the same ballpark but does not get specific as far as I read. - kevin_thibedeau 5y agoEC keys don't require a search for prime numbers so it should be faster.
- beardog 5y agoPlus it doesn't use the sha1sum, not to say it is a particularly slow function.
