Anyone remember that movie "Interstellar," where Matthew McConaughey's character hacked the drone and took over its navigation systems?
Curious as to whether or not this has a basis in reality. Surely advanced militaries are aware of drone warfare and can detect the RF (?) control / communication with the drones, and therefore have an opportunity to hack them.
Or maybe they just try to shoot them down? (Which seems difficult to do...)

- llampx 5y agoI wonder how many people actually know how big a regular military drone is. Maybe I'm too wet behind the ears, but whenever I think drone I think a dinky little thing.
- Arnt 5y agoThere was a thread on HN about drug smugglers who used commercially available drones to fly drugs from the northern coast of Morocco to somewhere inland in Spain. They'd charge the drone's battery in Morocco, load it with drugs, configure it to fly a specific path and land at a lonely spot inland in Spain. 0% remote control, 100% GPS waypoints. Programming a drone to fly to a given road and then along is easy without any remote control. Recognising fuel trucks using opencv left as an exercise for the reader.
