On day 1 of the invasion I have already suspected something like this.
Putin, a cold blooded calculative sociopath as he always was, would have not started this insanity. So the only viable explanation is that he got diagnosed with something incurable and decided to go out with a bang, because he has nothing to lose. Of course he couldn't just straight up declare war on NATO, his minders would have snuffed him out, so he did the next best thing, probably hoping it will escalate to WW3 anyway.

Do you really think you have successfully sussed out the motives of a "cold blooded calculative sociopath"? I don't think you have, I don't think any of us have. But I do know that he's been complaining about US Biolabs in Ukraine for at least 5 years.
