I think one should quote Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I don’t remember the exact quote, but the gist of it was “how could we possibly think that abusing substances would lead to some sort of the experience of elevating humans to another level”. I find a lot of people who actually seriously took drugs are very wary of suggesting other should do so too. Most of the people who are so trigger-happy to share this experience with either seem to not every had an experience to manage someone having a panic attack while hallucinating or anything along those lines.
