V8 is an absolute marvel of engineering. The performance gains are very impressive. But Chrome still has some work to do on rendering performance. The switch to hardware acceleration was actually a deceleration for quite a few cases. For example rendering very large concave SVG paths is probably 10x faster on Firefox compared to Chrome. I hope to see some effort in future to improve this, too.
