Transform is also used in data mangling to mean exactly what this tool does.
Transformation is also used in enterprise IT to mean modernising.
Transformer is also a mathematics term, a kids toy and many other things.
In short, ML doesn’t have a monopoly on it.
- blueblob 5y agoWell, the really ironic part of it is that the machine learning models using transformers were literally conceived for converting between languages. So this would be quite the valid use case. Unfortunately, it makes the name more confusing.
