- denysonique 5y agoThere is a visa scheme for these cases, please see my other comment.
- Jenk 5y ago"Opening the borders" means visa-less (or at the least, automatically granted visas) Having to apply for a visa is the literal contradiciton to this.
- OJFord 5y agoBut is it a problem, or just a bit of annoying paperwork? It's a new visa type created for the situation, not some 'stand in line with everyone else' sort of thing. The church/community group sponsoring to place with a volunteer family option seems novel too. Otherwise as a refugee fleeing a war in Ukraine, I'm not really sure why the UK is a great option - there seem better, easier European choices, and as per up-thread we might do better to support that (even more).
- KuiN 5y agoSo far there have been only 50 visas granted. There are UK citizens that personally drove to Ukraine to get family members out that are stuck in Calais unable to return. It's not good enough.
