I have friends in Russia but if I relate their thoughts I will be downvoted and flagged to oblivion. There's no room for "the other view" on HN. Look at any old thread about PRC and see how it goes. When it smells a little of politics HN quickly devolve and moderation is needed.
- harel 5y agoPost it as a throwaway. I'm very interested in hearing the other side. After all, a coin has three sides...
- crate_barre 5y agoSame, it’s obvious the West has a narrative that is being pushed.
- harel 5y agoEveryone has a narrative, always. And to be fair, I cannot think of a 'story' where I can justify this invasion, but I do want some understanding because at the moment it's completely insane.
- gaws 5y ago> I'm very interested in hearing the other side. Russia good. Ukraine bad. West worst. What else is there to know?

- mint2 5y agoUnless you believe they are accurate you could post along side why they are understandably wrong given the propaganda situation. If you believe they are accurate youbcan use a throwaway to explain why your view that mass bombing of civilians by Russia is partially nato’s fault. If the views aren’t something like that, then why hesitate to post?
- kahrl 5y agoThere is certainly room to hear from different perspectives on hacker news. If you're getting downvoted, your version of "the other view" might include whataboutism, false equivalence, propagandized history, and turning a blind eye to the fact that dear leader's magic hands seem to pass through solid objects.
