- mumblemumble 5y agoOpen source doesn't "mean" that, per se; that's just the default way things work. Source: I used to make a living offering independent support for commercial software that someone else made and sold.

- tehjoker 5y agoIt happens, but outside of the really big projects, it usually seems like there's one or two people doing all the maintenance. The more technical the project (e.g. algorithms, image codecs) the worse the problem is. I was fortunate enough once that a big company used an algo I wrote and contributed a performance improvement in an area I'd had writers block on, but that was the exception.
