- disiplus 5y agono, but it puts it into perspective.
- xdennis 5y agoIt does when one is caused by the other.
- marrone12 5y agoRussian citizens did not cause this war...
- krn 5y agoYou could say the same about the German citizens and WWII.
- drdaeman 5y agoOne could, yes. As far as I'm aware, even a matter of collective guilt (which is related but different from causation) is not exactly unanimously agreed upon between renown philosophers. And just to be clear - I'm not saying it's true or false (heck, I have very mixed feelings), I'm saying it's arguable.
- notch656a 5y agoRussian citizens aren't getting bombed. They are getting economic sanctions. Considering these citizens are paying taxes that fund the war, I think they're fair game for economic payback.
- duckmysick 5y agoThis comment chain mentioned a Russian person living abroad. Supposedly they also pay taxes abroad, not in Russia, yet they are still affected.
- disiplus 5y agothey paid taxes on the money that is in the russian bank account still. the money that i have in my debit account comes from my salary. the taxes are paid before the net part hits my bank account.
- akimball 5y agoMany other people experience taxation very differently than do you. Taxation is implemented in many ways.
- dismantlethesun 5y agoBut they are holding the guns and working in the factories that build the bullets…
- tsol 5y agoThe army has bullets stockpiled. If Russians refuses to run any factories starting today the war would still be on. It's not hard to find arms if you have money-- which Putin has
- koonsolo 5y agoUkrainians also fall into the "sad to see people that have nothing to do with this situation", even more so I would argue. The sad truth is that Russians cannot escape their shared responsibility.
- native_samples 5y agoWhat, by birth destiny or something? That's like saying no American can escape their shared responsibility for Iraq, or Syria, or Trump. Doesn't matter how they voted, right. People vote in Russia too. Americans could have stormed the White House if they disagreed with the outcomes, or blockaded the city streets with trucks or something .... oh, wait.
- koonsolo 5y agoYes. Like I say, it's a shared responsibility. The country represents all of you, and all of you represent the country.
