This is becoming a lost art. Especially in in training of large data sets. But in cosmology particularly so. Even to consider three black holes in orbit, approaches the limits of computability (and human reason) itself.
What's amazing to see is the accretion disk isolines calculated in 1973 on an IBM 7040 mainframe. They exhibit an equivalent topology to simulations today. All based on the non-trivial relativistic Doppler shifts in the emitted radiation.
In this instance, the advice is crystal clear: definitely try this at home kids ;)
