Ask HN: What about adding archive.org to links here?
I recently accessed an old link here on HN and I found it doesn't exist anymore. Maybe we should add an archived link for posts with some kind of positive threshold?
- datashaman 5y agoArchive links are probably a legal grey area with commercial, paid content. If it came down to legal action, users are likely responsible for the content they post here. Automatically posting archive links would make HN somewhat more responsible than not doing it at all.
- ss48 5y agoI made a post similar functionality here. The point made by datashaman is a good point. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30386878 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30386878
