When I'm writing web stuff "for fun", I try to avoid frameworks. It seems a lot more enjoyable. When I do, though, I use vanilla Javascript. I'd really love to do framework-less Typescript. In theory, you can, I guess. But it is all wrapped up in NPM. Which, for some reason, I just don't like. NPM-less Typescript seems like it would be pretty cool.
