I see only benefits to cutting those countries off. Sources of malware, DoS attacks based on who their governments currently have a disagreement with, scams, ransomware. This reason always gets trotted out but Chinese and Russians have no interest in our internet / news sources / information. Allowing them to connect to us just opens a point of attack, and is a weakness. Cut the fibre, remove them from DNS. Let them build their own internet if they can.
