I remember all the breathless headlines when Trump and Kim Jong-un were trading barbs that nuclear war could happen any time.
Now its Putin whose the unpredictable madman or whatever.

They will take this war as far as they can, to make the casualties they have already sustained "worth it". A deconfliction hotline is only as good as the parties on either end and Putin isn't exactly arguing or negotiating in good faith.
