Sony, Honda team up to develop and sell electric vehicles
- foxyv 5y agoI really want a modern electric version of the Honda Fit. I love my 2013 so much. However, the fact that Sony is working with them is concerning. Sony is SO bad about right to repair. I kind of wish that Honda would make an electric crate version in the spirit of their bomb proof 4 cylinder engine and then buy some batteries from Panasonic or something. I don't want the self-driving, phantom braking, always connected, infotaining, need-a-special-tool-to-repair-everything, no door handles, breaks down at 100k, JUNK that is coming out of most car companies right now. I want a people mover that costs less than anyone else, with big knobs and levers like my 2013. Then, take all that money they are planning to spend on "Features" and then building superchargers everywhere.
- victor_e 5y agoI have been thinking about getting a Honda fit.. or a Jazz as they call it here. What is the boot space like? Wold it be suitable for a small family? 2 adults and a newborn baby?
- foxyv 5y agoI like mine (2013 Automatic). A family of 3 would be great in it since you can fold down half the back seat for more trunk space. In addition they make aftermarket hitches so you can add cargo platforms or bicycle racks on the back if you need even more stuff. It may be a bit smallish if you are used to a minivan but it makes up for it with excellent fuel economy and reliability. The only thing I would recommend is to get a manual and not the automatic. They switched to Continuously Variable Transmissions around 2015 and they have a really bad reputation so far. Pretty much disposable, barely-servicable, and unreliable. If you replace your car every 5 years then no big deal but I usually drive cars for 15+. Edit: Also the dashboard tends to glare off the aggressively slanted windshield so getting a black dash mat helps a lot. But that is a lot of cars since the Prius popularized the windshield thing. Left quarter visibility sucks so you have to bob your head in parking lots to see around the A-pillar to see pedestrians on your left.
