I’d love it if somebody could figure out how to get the MPW Shell paradigm to work in MacOS/Linux today. It’s not just a shell in an editor, as found in emacs/vi/etc. It actually overlays the edit buffers on the file system namespace as seen by the tools. For example, you can do something like sometool MyFile.§ which means sometool gets the contents of the selection in MyFile as a file input. So there’s no difference between editor commands and tools when you’re scripting.
