SpaceX chief Musk warns that its Starlink system could be 'targeted' in Ukraine
- retrac 5y agoIn the first Chechen War, Russia took out the Chechen president with a missile guided by electronic warfare systems to the radio signature of the satellite phone he was using. [1] (Though the Russians probably got some help from the NSA for that.) There are various mitigatioms but at the end of the day, anything with a radio transmitter in it is also a homing beacon. If Starlink terminals are deemed militarily relevant the Russian forces won't have too much trouble landing missiles on locations where they're transmitting. Idea being the end users with directional antenna's pointed at the Ubiquiti should be harder to lock onto.
