Another fact is that russia did forbid some german media (deutsche welle) to broadcast, so it's certainly also revenge..
- Markoff 5y agowhich was response to Germany banning RT first
- proctrap 5y agothat's not true - and RT is state sponsored, DW isn't
- Markoff 5y agoROFL Literally first sentence: "Deutsche Welle or DW is a German public, state-owned[1] international broadcaster funded by the German federal tax budget.[3] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Welle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Welle
- freemint 5y agoRT was never banned in Russia (well before the EU decision at least). It was never allowed to broadcast because it would have to get a German TV license. I didn't get one instead it good some from Lichtenstein (?) for broadcasting which is just not how that works.
- Markoff 5y agoTLDR Germans de facto banned it, if they had no problem until now with the licensing
- freemint 5y agoNo minister or administrator made a decision to deny RT some license. All they did is to enforce in an indiscriminate manner German law. Other stations which broadcast without license would also be treated in the same way.
- Markoff 5y agosure and this enforcing right now during Ukrainian invasion is complete coincidence /facepalm
