DR the original paper, but have seen models of ultra-spectral sounders (polar -https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/NPP/images/index.html https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/NPP/images/index.html and geostationary). It is a wonderful tech and the capabilities are so impressive. Ultra spectral instrument (order of 5000 channels with 0.2 um resolution) and sensitivity of 0.1K on a geostationary satellite gives on 4D view of the atmosphere (3D spatial + time). It is so pleasurable to watch these movies ... though not useful for analysis. They are converted to 2D + time + color-scale for altitude such as here from GOES R (which is not ultra-spectral): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Frwrjmkkg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Frwrjmkkg
(note the waves it resolves in time and space!)
