Ask HN: Is it possible to cut off Russia from the rest of the Internet?

• Bostonian 5y ago
Do we want to? The Chinese Communist Party rigorously controls Internet access in China, fearing that unfettered access would undermine its control. I want Russians to see the destruction their country is wreaking in Ukraine and the suffering of Ukrainians and Russian soldiers.

Russia also controls internet access to an extent. I think it should be considered as a possible option.

Ok, but should hackers work on cutting off Russia from the Internet or helping Russians evade government controls?

Also asked here [1] In summary it can be done but I would not want that to happen. I want the Russian people to see what their leader is doing to them. [1] - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30484009 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30484009
