PalmOS lives on, Aceeca releasing two devices this year
- retrac 5y ago2010 article. Might want to edit that headline. I don't miss PalmOS. Terrible APIs, an actual filesystem being a bolted on afterthought, the core OS running in 68K code under emulation on ARM... It was a mess toward the end, new features were awkwardly bolted on. It was a big part of why Palm died, really. But man do I miss the UI. The simplicity and elegance of the early Macintosh in a tiny touchscreen format. It might be the best use, ever, of 160x160 pixels to cleanly communicate information. Discoverable features, four taps at most to activate almost any function. Anyone trying to design a UI for a small touch screen should be deeply familiar with it, IMO.
