Show HN: Letter Jumble – A daily word puzzle
- danieltait 5y agoHere is my latest word puzzle hacked together this weekend. Hope you like it!
- beardyw 5y agoIs there a single solution? If so, it would help to know I am on track by colour coding. Otherwise it is discouraging to have no sense of progress, not knowing if you are going down a dead end. Wordle provides that feedback, and it is important (to me).
- delgaudm 5y agoMy suggestion: Ditch the clock. The combination of the clock and the difficulty makes this really unsatisfying for me to play. Todays puzzle, or the puzzle I was presented with, is quite tough (after 9 minutes I still haven't solved it) and the clock just adds stress, and for me not in a good way. Since the keyboard doesn't surface on my android device having that clock is even more frustrating since you're stuck dragging little tiny targets, so the actual play is considerably slower on mobile than on desktop. Edited to add: Perhaps I would enjoy this more if there was an "easy mode" with Create 3 5-letter words or 3 6-letter words. 20 letters for 3 words makes for at least one word that is going to be long. Edit 2: after 20 minutes I still haven't solved it. This is really a tough puzzle.
- danieltait 5y agoThanks for the feedback! I've removed the clock now and instead it only tells you the completion time once you have solved. For mobile you should be able to tap the letters. Can I please ask what device and browser you are playing.

- ImpressiveWebs 5y agoNice. Very difficult though, even for a former Scrabble expert like me, :) My suggestion is to not remove the letters as they’re typed. It’s very jarring and unusable that way. You should just “disable” the used ones and keep them in the same place. Also, is there a way to remove letters from the play area after they’re used? Or start from a clean slate without refreshing the page?
