Yes, ‘Elden Ring’ Is Perfectly Playable on Linux (Including Online Features)
- yellowapple 5y agoThe author has had much better luck than I've had, apparently. Tried it twice (last night and tonight) on openSUSE Tumbleweed + AMD graphics, first time with the latest stable Proton, and second with Proton Experimental. Performance on "high" settings is still somewhat worse than I'd expect, and the game freezes for me whenever I'd go through anything resulting in a loading spinner. Oh, and enemies are invisible, but apparently that's an issue for a lot of folks on Windows, too. On the bright side, with Proton Experimental, multiplayer features do work, which is awesome. Hopefully more EAC-using games enable Proton support.
- fayten 5y agoThe performance is bad across Linux and Windows. Digital foundry did a decent review on it[1]. In certain areas a friend's rig with an 11th gen i7 and rtx 3070 is dipping down to mid 30 fps in certain areas on Windows 10 with "high" settings. The game is pretty sweet though, and it's incredible that it worked within a few hours of launch on Linux! [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EtcrUrsl38 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EtcrUrsl38
