I don't think Russians are by and large buying this propaganda. They still fear the Kremlin but don't believe it. From what I've seen in various unrelated forums, Chinese people online are much more believing of Putin than Russians
- jollybean 5y agoPutin has 69% approval, 50% blame 'NATO' for this issue and 5% think Russia is the cause. It's literally an invasion and they don't realize it. Putin is using the term 'limited military operation' to 'liberate Ukraine' effectively from a 'Nazi, drug addict corrupt leadership' - and they buy it. It's the only source of information they have. It's really easy to mislead people if you can control they information they receive. I don't think Russians quite support the 'incursion' but they'd be fine with the outcome, and probably wouldn't think of the puppet/client state leader as being subjugated. Putin murders his political opponents and journalists, but because he can't be implicated or investigated, the citizenry just goes on roughly believing the propaganda at least to a certain degree. Regular people don't have the time to parse through this complex world. 'Good' news is so important.
- muzika 5y agoUnfortunately many (most?) Russians ARE believing it.
