Interesting. IIRC, around 2017 or so (about the same time blockchain really started to heat up) I read something on HN about Nathan Myhrvold acquiring patents in exactly the space you describe. I'm not sure he or his companies ever had success implementing anything- obviously the scope is daunting. Perhaps the whole thing just dropped off his radar due to the wild success of his cookbook. Anyway, sorry if this is bad news but buckle up for a legal battle if he gets wind of any of this. The guy is loaded and kind of a jackass when it comes to IP.
