API to check if a number is even or not
- alamortsubite 5y ago"Before isEven I used a giant case expression and it was a mess." Hilarious. I got a good chuckle out of that one. Thank you.
- gregjor 5y agoI introduced this service a year ago, announced on HN: https://typicalprogrammer.com/isodd-as-a-service https://typicalprogrammer.com/isodd-as-a-service https://hn.algolia.com/?q=iseven+web+service https://hn.algolia.com/?q=iseven+web+service I’m talking to my lawyers about what looks like isevenapi.xyz stealing my idea and intellectual property. I may open source the code we developed for iseven and isodd as web services. Unfortunately after a year I had to shut the service down because my funds ran out and two of the original developers left to form their own company focused on isNaN and isEmptyString as web services. It was quite a startup journey, I learned a lot from the failure that will guide me in future startup ventures. I plan to write a complete post-mortem with the lessons learned so keep any eye out.
- alamortsubite 5y agoInteresting. IIRC, around 2017 or so (about the same time blockchain really started to heat up) I read something on HN about Nathan Myhrvold acquiring patents in exactly the space you describe. I'm not sure he or his companies ever had success implementing anything- obviously the scope is daunting. Perhaps the whole thing just dropped off his radar due to the wild success of his cookbook. Anyway, sorry if this is bad news but buckle up for a legal battle if he gets wind of any of this. The guy is loaded and kind of a jackass when it comes to IP.
- gregjor 5y agoThanks for telling me about this, I’ll pass it on to my legal team for due diligence. We are exploring a pivot to using blockchain technology for iseven/isodd and similar services. Do you know if anyone is already minting NFTs for even and odd numbers?
- alamortsubite 5y agoHow can I send you my money?
